Why can skin be fine and then suddenly become reactive?

Your skin can look completely normal while using active ingredients - and then suddenly become more sensitive.

This is often due to the cumulative effect of active ingredients.

Think of it as a load that builds over time:

Active ingredients → cumulative load → individual tolerance threshold → skin becomes reactive

Your skin may handle the same routine well for a while. But as the cumulative load increases, you can suddenly notice changes.

A few things to watch for:

  • Mild redness that goes away within a few hours can be normal.

  • Mild stinging or tingling can be normal if it disappears within about 5 minutes.

  • Burning that persists or becomes stronger is a warning sign.

  • Mild peeling can be normal. But dense, dry patches that feel sensitive, painful, or uncomfortable are a different signal.

If you notice persistent burning or pronounced dry patches, stop your active ingredients and message me so I can assess your skin and adjust your routine.

The goal of treatment is not just to clear your skin. It’s also to learn how much your skin can handle and how to recognize when your routine needs to change.
